The above animation is a work in progress.  This clip is a creative promo (an “out take”) and is not a part of the actual film; however the room in which this takes place will be used in the film - this is the Janitor’s office.  Remember, this is a funny out-take so this series of actions will not appear in the final animation, but could be shown as additional content on the DVD. 

 

To set-up the scene: the crew is filming the “The Water Cycle”, the first of a series of 13 half hour shows.  The character playing Ollie Oxygen becomes frustrated during filming so he escapes to the Janitor’s office to cool-off.  At the end of the clip, you hear the director calling for Ollie Oxygen because they can't locate him and need him on the set.

 

On this specific animation set (the Janitor's office), there will be more articles added to the room such as brooms, mops, plumbing for the sink, light switches, etc.  Also, the bottles will be labeled and there will be various levels of fluid in the bottles. 

 

The animation piece is an example of the type of work that is being done on the AoE characters at CAT Studios and is an example that we can show to our investors, potential investors, potential studios, and advertisers/sponsors to demonstrate the quality of work that will be going into DVDs, the online game and the film.  While there is still a long way to go, you will see detail in the reflection of Ollie’s surroundings in his suit, shadows as he walks in different directions, movement in the fire on his head as he turns in different directions, movement in the face, in particular his mouth, and the development of the detail in the room.  If the animation process is a 10 step process then we are at the 5^th or 6^th steps. This room by design is not completely populated with the detail items which will fill the room when complete. More lighting tests will be preformed and finally set in the process of making the environment even more visually appealing when complete.

 

This animation of the character is a first run test in the sequences as “performance capture data” which is often called Motion Capture by many in the industry.

 

More articulation on the character development will take place from its motion to its interaction with the surroundings.  By design this demo shows the first characterization of the Ollie Oxygen character.  A new one has already been modeled and will be used in the production of DVDs, online game and the film.

 

Much of the work is still to be completed but you can see the direction we are going and one of the exciting super hero characters, Ollie Oxygen, with many more to come.
